Why am I asked to confirm my sign-in again?
Money and consent actions require a recent verification.
01The step-up prompt
Some actions ask you to confirm who you are even though you are already signed in. Password accounts re-enter their password; Google and Apple accounts confirm through a quick popup with their provider.
02When it happens
It is asked before actions that move money or grant standing authority over it: connecting or disconnecting the bank account your business is paid into, refunding a customer, revoking a payment consent in your Akahu settings, and transferring ownership of an organisation. Once you have confirmed, you are not asked again for two hours — the window our payment rails require on the web.
03Why it is not optional
The prompt you see is a courtesy; the real check happens on the server, which reads how recently you actually verified before it will act. Dismissing the dialog does not skip the check — it simply means the action does not run.
