Publishing a form
What publish means now that a form has no link.
01Published means finished and servable
A draft cannot be attached to anything, so it appears nowhere. Publish is what makes a form available to attach, and it needs at least one answerable question with its options filled in. Publish is refused while the builder has unsaved changes; it would otherwise publish the saved version rather than the one you are looking at. Save first.
02Unpublishing
Unpublish is refused while an offering or a flow still holds the form, and the refusal names what is holding it — unpublishing a form under a live checkout would take that checkout down for a buyer who can do nothing about it. Detach it first, and unpublish stops the form accepting responses; everything already collected stays exactly where it is.
03Removing a question that has answers
Deleting a question from the builder removes it outright only while nobody has answered it. One that has been answered is retired instead: it disappears from every asking surface, and stays whole on every response that answered it, because a response records what was asked.
04Deleting
Deleting is refused while an offering or a flow still holds the form, and the refusal names what is holding it. Responses are always kept: what someone wrote to you is correspondence, and no setting of yours erases it.
